Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Elvis Ronan! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kartik Yay! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ronan throws a series of strikes that have Yay backpedaling.
Yay doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Yay throws a leg kick that misses. Yay throws a leg kick and Ronan connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ronan misses the shot to the body. Ronan ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Decent striking displayed by Ronan there. Yay fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ronan manages to avoid it. Yay avoids the body shot from Ronan.
Yay throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Ronan sees it coming and avoids it easily. Yay moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Yay takes a body punch but keeps moving. This has been an exciting period of action! Ronan slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Yay thows a left - swing and a miss! This fight brought to you by 5M nutrition - it's mmmmm tasty. Nice jab by Ronan. Yay throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Elvis Ronan is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ronan darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Yay misses with a kick to the body.
Ronan's corner calls for a 1-2. Ronan obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Yay slips under a jab. A big right from Ronan misses. Ronan swings for the body but Yay moves out of range.
Ronan stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Yay throws an overhand right that lands on Ronan's shoulder, as Ronan tries to avoid the shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yay misses with a hook. Ronan is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Ronan lunges at Yay with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Yay's hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ronan bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Yay's head backwards. Ronan lands with a right that hurts Yay. Yay looks to clinch but Ronan throws a short knee that drops Yay. This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch and Knee). Elvis Ronan! Elvis Ronan retains his middleweight title! During a confident post fight interview, Elvis Ronan thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
