The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Badridge misses with a straight right.
Badridge feints and as Gutierrez raises his hands in defense, Badridge changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Badridge sitting in guard here, content to control.
Badridge pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Gutierrez is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Badridge wants to control from the top but Gutierrez keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Barry Badridge wasn't active enough on the ground.
Gutierrez tries for a takedown but Badridge circles away easily
letting Badridge counter with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.

and Badridge counters with a series of strikes. Gutierrez will be more careful next time no doubt.
Gutierrez is rocked!
Badridge lands an uppercut, right on the button! Gutierrez tumbles backwards into the cage, staring vacantly into space! He's got no idea where he is, who he is or what day it is... Poor guy.

Barry Badridge decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
