Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rod Brave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerome Kabasla (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brave comes to the cage accompanied by Eco, Eco (somos de taleco). Rod Brave has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rod Brave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gerome Kabasla!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brave jabs Kabasla to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Kabasla connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Brave's hands.
Kabasla throws a good cross that connects.
No joy there for Brave, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kabasla looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Brave throws a leg kick but Kabasla checks it.
Brave throws a nice outside leg kick.
Kabasla on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Brave. Brave obviously looking to wear him down.

Brave closes the distance and clinches.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brave is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kabasla is looking to control Brave's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kabasla avoid being mounted?
Kabasla holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kabasla is not content to let Brave control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Rod Brave just wasn't active enough.

Kabasla is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Brave pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Brave leaves Kabasla with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Rod Brave has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerome Kabasla.

Brave rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kabasla moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Brave fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kabasla.
Brave throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
A head kick misses from Kabasla.
Kabasla shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Brave throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kabasla's head.
Kabasla shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Brave as he avoids it easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kabasla. Brave does a little dance to reset his feet.
A combination from Kabasla does no damage.
Kabasla throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Brave's waist but Brave gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Kabasla off to one side.
Rod Brave has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerome Kabasla.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Brave takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Kabasla shoots in for a double leg but Brave sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Good leg kick by Kabasla there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Brave shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Brave showed some decent athleticism there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brave thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kabasla's head.
