Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joseph Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Matt Hodson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young comes into the arena with Rockstar blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Hodson's choice of entrance music: Break Some Off by KoRn. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Hodson! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Damien Edna and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hodson. Hodson with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hodson displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Young. Hodson throws a series of punches but Young avoids them all with ease. Hodson circles away from the clinch attempt.

and Hodson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Young closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Young lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Young got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hodson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Young has managed to get both his arms back between Hodson's legs - danger averted. Young has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hodson wants to sweep here but Young controlling him for the moment. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Hodson looking for a guillotine here but Young defends easily.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hodson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Young can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. That's two minutes gone in the round. Young stands and steps away. Hodson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Hodson scores with a jab to the body. Hodson misses with a head kick.
Hodson throws a right and a left that Young avoids nicely. Young misses with a takedown attempt - Hodson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hodson throws a half hearted mid kick. Hodson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Young tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Young misses with a takedown attempt and Hodson counters with a lovely straight right hand! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joseph Young. That's going to take a lot out of him. Young is breathing heavily. Young swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
This has been an exciting period of action! Young avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hodson thuds his right hand into Young's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Hodson tests Young's chin there with a solid looking shot. Young tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Hodson counters with a straight that turns Young's legs to rubber! Hodson pushes forward with more strikes and Young goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!

Matt Hodson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
