Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Greg Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brad Hayfore! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Hayfore is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jackson is aware though and is defending well. Hayfore is trying to control the position but Jackson postures up. Hayfore has a closed guard, preventing Jackson from standing up. Jackson throws a big elbow that misses. Jackson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hayfore is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hayfore preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hayfore looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Jackson wanted to stand there but Hayfore had control of the position. Jackson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jackson is figuring out what he wants to do next. Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Jackson works his way into full mount! Hayfore manages to regain half guard. Good work. Hayfore is positioning himself well to prevent Jackson advancing to mount. Jackson sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson is thwarting Hayfore's attempts to control the position. Jackson not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We're going to have a standup here because Greg Jackson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Hayfore lands a head kick!
It looks like Greg Jackson has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Jackson tries to bum rush Hayfore with a series of wild strikes but Hayfore uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Hayfore explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hayfore scores with a nice body kick.
Hayfore throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Hayfore checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Hayfore lands a brutal head kick. Jackson looks out on his feet and Hayfore throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
