PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Steve Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vince Brasil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Austin kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Stone Cold Entrance. Vince Brasil struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.9lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Vince Brasil!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Austin connects with a jab.
Vince Brasil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nice sprawl there from Brasil as Austin shoots in.
Austin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Brasil sprawls well. Brasil wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Austin gets slowly back to his feet.
Brasil defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Austin.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Austin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No joy there for Austin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Austin counters with a single leg into guard. Brasil didn't expect that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Brasil wants to stand and escape but Austin is having none of it.

Austin tries to score with some ground and pound. Brasil controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Austin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Brasil has escaped the position, nice work there.
Austin is looking to take a break and control but Brasil is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Austin tries to score with some ground and pound. Brasil controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Austin is stalling here. Brasil is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Austin seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Brasil has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Brasil gets to mount! Austin was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Austin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Steve Austin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Brasil tries to control but Austin wriggling away.
Brasil is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Austin connects with a couple of short punches.
Austin stands and throws Brasil's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Austin working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The ground and pound from Austin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Austin goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Brasil rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Austin's guard! Nice work there by Brasil!
Austin is trying to hold Brasil in close to prevent damage but Brasil has managed to pass into half guard.

Austin lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Austin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Austin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brasil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Austin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Brasil escapes and throws Austin's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Austin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Brasil decides to stand up.
Austin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brasil tries to clinch but Austin moves away
and Brasil takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Austin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Austin wants to pass the guard but Brasil is defending well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Austin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Austin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Brasil blocking the ground and pound attempt from Austin.
Austin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Brasil's head.

Austin is working for a submission of some sort.

Austin looking for a submission but Brasil manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Brasil is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Austin won't allow Brasil to sweep him here.
Austin has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Brasil is trying to keep Austin in close.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Austin's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Austin drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brasil manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Austin has Brasil in his guard.

Austin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Brasil is one step ahead there.
Vince Brasil has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Brasil avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Steve Austin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Austin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
