Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Felipe Pontes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benne Mcombs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Thiago Cunha and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mcombs tries to clinch
and Pontes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Pontes.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Mcombs decides to pull guard.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Pontes showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

Pontes misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Mcombs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pontes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mcombs tries to avoid it but Pontes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mcombs to the ground. Mcombs escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

A head kick misses from Pontes.
Mcombs moves in looking to clinch but Pontes pushes him off.
Pontes darts in and clinches Mcombs up against the cage.
Mcombs jumps guard but Pontes turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Pontes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pontes blocks a low kick nicely.
Pontes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Pontes manages to pull guard.
Pontes tries to strike from the bottom.
Pontes managing to control the position.
Mcombs looking to sit in guard and control but Pontes gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pontes seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pontes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Pontes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pontes stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Mcombs tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Pontes finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Pontes looks for a takedown but Mcombs sprawls well.
Mcombs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pontes swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Pontes fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Mcombs on the side of the head.
Good standup being displayed there by Mcombs as he connects with a hook.
Mcombs throws a sloppy head kick and Pontes moves out of range easily.

Pontes shoots in for a takedown but Mcombs shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Felipe Pontes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pontes tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Mcombs misses with a head kick.

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Mcombs.
Pontes shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Felipe Pontes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mcombs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pontes swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Mcombs makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Mcombs.

Good leg kick by Mcombs there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Pontes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Mcombs throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Pontes stumbling backwards into the cage! Pontes bounces back off the cage towards Mcombs, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Mcombs lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Mcombs celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Benne Mcombs!
