Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Boudreau! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Thomas Heans! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Heans tries to clinch but Boudreau moves out of range. Heans doesn't manage to clinch there - Boudreau circles away.
Heans is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Heans fails in his attempt to clinch. Heans fails in his attempt to clinch. Heans wants to clinch but Boudreau slips to the side and Boudreau counters with a shoot takedown. Heans fights it but they end up in guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Boudreau prevents Heans from getting back to his feet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Heans can do anything to dispel that myth. Boudreau is standing up over Heans. Heans looks to escape but Boudreau dives into side control.
Boudreau happy to just control the position for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Boudreau thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Heans on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Heans is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Boudreau has just dragged him back down to the mat. Boudreau controls the position. Boudreau lands a few punches from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Boudreau is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Heans looks calm but he's in trouble here. Boudreau gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Heans is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Boudreau lets go of the hold and Heans can pop his arm back in it's socket.
