Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Charlie Maccarone! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Oliver John! The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! John darts in and clinches Maccarone up against the cage. John escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
John moves out of range of the body kick. John misses with a series of wild punches.
A punch combination from John misses. John looks to land a combination but Maccarone avoids it well. Maccarone really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. John throws a combination that misses and Maccarone counters with an inside leg kick. John throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maccarone takes one on the button. The fight moves into the clinch position. Maccarone is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Maccarone is trying to break the clinch but John is controlling him. Maccarone breaks from the clinch.
John scores with a sloppy right hand. Maccarone should have avoided that one. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. John walks forward, straight into a front kick from Maccarone. Maccarone uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from John. John misses with a body kick. John loads up on a big right hand but Maccarone slips the punch. Maccarone lands a big head kick that sends John tumbling to the mat! Maccarone takes a step backwards and waves John back to his feet - he wants the finish!
It looks like Oliver John has been cut. Oliver John seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. John misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's one minute gone in the round. John lands with a shot to the body. John misses with a wild combination.
Maccarone drops John with a beautiful combination! John stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Maccarone is looking for the KO!
John is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Maccarone ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with John's jaw. John's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Maccarone does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Charlie Maccarone! Charlie Maccarone made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'I'd like to thank everyone at Nacho Libre Gym the #1 training facility in Montreal.'.
