PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Takiyama Shigaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Savo Tieros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shigaru kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is North Korean Army Song. Tieros has chosen All Over You-Live as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shigaru throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Tieros's waist but Tieros gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shigaru off to one side.

Tieros throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Shigaru was covering up waiting for the punch and Tieros finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Shigaru misses with a combination

and Tieros counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Tieros has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Tieros is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Shigaru doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Tieros.

Tieros is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Shigaru is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tieros decides to stand up, so the ref orders Shigaru to his feet.
Shigaru shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tieros pinned against the cage. Tieros gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Tieros takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Takiyama Shigaru has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Shigaru closes the distance but Tieros moves to the side
and Tieros counters with a leg kick.

and Tieros counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Tieros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Shigaru swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tieros slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Shigaru escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tieros gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Savo Tieros is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Tieros slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Savo Tieros comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Tieros has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

As Savo Tieros got his breath back, he grabbed the microphone and managed to blurt out the following: Wow, that was a test if I've ever had one and I guess I passed it! You fans are my lifeline!'.
