Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Riley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rafael Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Riley might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Get Up. Rafael Rua has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with John Riley's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riley takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Riley cracks a nice hook into Rua's ribs.
Riley scores with a hook.
Rua takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Rua misses with a double jab.
Rua throws a leg kick
and Riley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Rua swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Riley counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rua throws a right and a left that both miss.

Riley lands a jab to Rua's midsection.

and Riley counters with a lovely shot to the body.

letting Riley counter with a right hand.


It looks like Rafael Rua has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Riley checks the leg kick nicely there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Riley bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rua's head.

Riley drops Rua with a right and a left! Riley comes rushing in but Rua regains his composure and manages to keep Riley in guard.

Riley thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rua is still in real trouble! Can Riley finish him?
Riley passes Rua's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Rua seems to have recovered his senses.

Riley is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Riley is working for a submission of some sort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Riley is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Rua sees it coming and defends easily.

Rua defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Riley.

Riley has hold of Rua's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rua manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Riley has control of Rua's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Rua regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Rua.
Riley is looking to wear down Rua with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Rua is looking to land body kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riley paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Rua tried to score with a low kick but Riley checks it.
Rafael Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A looping hook to the body misses from Rua. Riley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rua takes one on the button.
Riley defending well as Rua loads up on a big left hand.
Rua fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Riley changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rua swings widly with a right hand
and Riley counters with a right hand to the body.
Riley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rua throws a front kick aimed at Riley's knee but Riley avoids it well.

Rua misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rua throws the kick towards the body but Riley avoids it.
Rua drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A left lands for Riley.
Riley is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Rua can do to turn this around?
Riley wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Rua is breathing heavily.
Rua misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Riley scores with a shot to the body.
Rua thows a body shot but no joy.
Riley lands with an overhand left.
Nice straight punches there by Riley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Riley.
Riley steps in with a hook that catches Rua right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Riley follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Rua looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Riley!
