PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alex Glenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Capulet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Glenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ian Capulet!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Glenn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Glenn closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Capulet did well to prevent Glenn getting side control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Capulet is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Glenn pulls his head out easily.
Capulet is trying to maintain the position but Glenn is very close to passing his half guard.
Glenn drops an elbow to the side of Capulet's head.

Capulet is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Glenn trying to control the pace.
Glenn prevents Capulet from improving his position.
Glenn wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Capulet trying to control but Glenn postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Capulet with a lazy takedown attempt

and Glenn moves into the clinch.
Capulet wants to take the fight to the mat but Glenn manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Glenn gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Capulet.
Alex Glenn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ian Capulet.

Glenn drags the fight down to the ground.
Capulet trying to stand up but can't free himself from Glenn's guard.

Capulet got a little sloppy there for a moment and Glenn has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Capulet has managed to get both his arms back between Glenn's legs - danger averted.

Glenn controls Capulet momentarily but Capulet frees himself.
Capulet trying to control the position from guard on top but Glenn is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Glenn looking for a sweep. Not yet Glenn, not yet.

Capulet decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Capulet changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Glenn tries to avoid it but Capulet manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Glenn to the ground. Glenn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Capulet shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Glenn counters with a single leg into guard. Capulet didn't expect that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Capulet escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Glenn gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Glenn is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Capulet has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Glenn is looking to defend but Capulet has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Glenn! Capulet pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Glenn taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ian Capulet!
