PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jorge Hernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Foe!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hernandez gets caught flat footed, as Foe shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Foe trying to control the position from guard on top but Hernandez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Foe trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Foe is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like Foe might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Joe Foe wasn't active enough on the ground.

Foe moves into the clinch successfully.

Hernandez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Foe is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Hernandez to the mat. Hernandez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Foe stands up over Hernandez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Foe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hernandez works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Foe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hernandez wants to stand up but Foe is controlling him.
Foe cracks Hernandez with a solid left hand.
Foe content to stall in guard here.

Foe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Foe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Foe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hernandez is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Foe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Foe pushes down on Hernandez's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Hernandez keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Foe is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hernandez!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Foe is working for a guillotine from mount but Hernandez frees his head quite easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hernandez really wants to buck Foe off and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foe pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Foe landing punches.
Foe raining down hammerfists from mount.
Foe working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Foe scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Hernandez?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hernandez is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Hernandez is breathing heavily.
The referee warns Hernandez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.


Hernandez is rocked!
Hernandez in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Oh Hernandez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Foe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hernandez seems to have got his legs back now.
Foe with shots to the head and body - Hernandez looks very uncomfortable down there.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Foe lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hernandez hang on?
Foe postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Hernandez badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Foe around the waist but Foe pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Foe is the winner by TKO! Foe jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Joe Foe!
