Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Sage Jackson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marco Chaves! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Marco Chaves seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Jackson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. A head kick misses from Chaves. Jackson drives through with a takedown into guard. Jackson wants to pass the guard but Chaves is keeping the position. Chaves is trying to keep Jackson in close.

Jackson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jackson drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chaves dives on top into guard. Jackson wants to sweep here but Chaves controlling him for the moment. Chaves must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chaves stands and throws Jackson's legs to the side, diving into side control. Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Jackson is working hard here to advance position. Chaves tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Chaves has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Chaves advances to mount. Jackson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Chaves looking for a guillotine here but Jackson defends easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson won't allow Chaves to sweep him here. Jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Chaves swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jackson stopping the sweep attempt from Chaves. Chaves looks gassed! Jackson slips nicely into half guard. Jackson has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Chaves defend it? Jackson steps over the head and cranks it - Chaves is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Jackson!
