Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ricardo Aguiar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Randy Royale! The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Royale. Royale closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Aguiar works his way to full guard. Good work. Royale must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Royale wants to pass the guard but Aguiar is keeping the position. Aguiar on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Aguiar tries to get out of the position. Aguiar is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Royale working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Royale won't allow Aguiar to get back to his feet. Aguiar keeping moving, preventing Royale from controlling successfully. Royale slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Royale working the head and body with strikes. Royale tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Royale has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's one minute gone in the round. Royale working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Royale working away. Aguiar is not content to let Royale control the position. Aguiar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Aguiar is breathing heavily. Royale seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Aguiar does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Royale missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Royale is keen to just control but Aguiar is a slippery customer. Aguiar preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Aguiar works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguiar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Royale manages to get himself to full guard.
Aguiar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Royale is keeping the position for now. Aguiar has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Royale is proving hard to escape from. Aguiar tries to free his leg and advance position but Royale is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Royale is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Aguiar pushes down on Royale's leg and manages to get into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Aguiar throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Royale to regain full guard. Aguiar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Royale avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguiar works a leg free and moves into half guard. Royale tries to kick Aguiar off but Aguiar keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Aguiar throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Aguiar passes the guard and advances to mount! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Aguiar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Royale can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Aguiar dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Aguiar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Aguiar cracks Royale with an elbow. That is naaassty. Aguiar misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Aguiar throwing strikes but Royale manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Royale thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Aguiar explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Aguiar defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Royale. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Royale shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Aguiar counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguiar is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguiar throwing shots but Royale is blocking nicely. Aguiar is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Royale keeping moving, preventing Aguiar from controlling successfully. Aguiar seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Ricardo Aguiar. Aguiar shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Royale as he avoids it easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Royale shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Aguiar pinned against the cage. Aguiar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ricardo Aguiar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Royale. Aguiar looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Aguiar with a flurry of punches that miss. Aguiar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Aguiar looking to sit in guard and control but Royale gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Royale wants to pass the guard but Aguiar is keeping the position. Royale postures up in Aguiar's guard and throws a big left but Aguiar blocks it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Royale trying to control but Aguiar is working from the bottom. Ricardo Aguiar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Royale stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Aguiar swivels though and keeps the full guard. Aguiar is looking to stand up but Royale isn't so interested in that idea. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ricardo Aguiar dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
Royale throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Aguiar's waist but Aguiar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Royale off to one side. Royale misses with a takedown attempt - Aguiar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Royale throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Aguiar looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Royale avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Aguiar. Aguiar is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Aguiar is looking to advance position but Royale won't allow it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Aguiar throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Aguiar controlling the pace. Royale is in trouble now - Aguiar has advanced to mount! Aguiar lands a big shot there that rocks Royale but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aguiar is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Royale can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Royale wants to control but Aguiar is having none of it. Aguiar looking to control but Royale is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Aguiar landing strikes from the mount and Royale is in trouble! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Aguiar has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Royale's face.

Royale is rocked! Aguiar cracks Royale with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
