5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bro Ham! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Alvarez or perhaps it was just good defense by Ham which made him look bad. Alvarez showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Ham.
Ham misses with a hook. Alvarez ducked under it nicely. Nice defenses there by Alvarez. Alvarez shoots in for a double leg but Ham sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ham smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Alvarez tries for a takedown but Ham sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Alvarez's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Ham. Ham distracts Alvarez with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Alvarez looking for a sweep. Not yet Alvarez, not yet. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Ham's corner. There ya go! Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Alvarez has his takedown stuffed and Ham counters with a left and a right that stings Alvarez. Alvarez tries for a takedown but Ham circles away easily letting Ham counter with a right hand.
