PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryszard Duch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerry Van Berry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duch comes to the cage accompanied by John Cage's 4'33". Gerry Van Berry is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gerry Van Berry!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Berry shoots for a takedown but Duch saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Van Berry shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Van Berry was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Duch is wriggling around trying to escape.
Duch is working hard here to advance position.

Van Berry tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Let's hope that Van Berry has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Duch manages to regain half guard. Good work.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Duch postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Van Berry is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duch, into his guard.

Duch has a hand on Van Berry's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Van Berry takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Duch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Van Berry postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Duch looks a forlorn figure.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Van Berry takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gerry Van Berry hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Duch is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Van Berry is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Van Berry has escaped and now he's on top!

Van Berry stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Duch swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Van Berry controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gerry Van Berry.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Duch is defended easily by Van Berry.

Van Berry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Van Berry staying calm.
Duch is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Van Berry's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Well Van Berry has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
