Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jesper Elbaek!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Liddell pulls guard successfully.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Elbaek is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Liddell has managed to free his arm - good work.
Elbaek is keen to just control but Liddell is a slippery customer.

Elbaek seems to be looking for submissions.

Elbaek is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Liddell can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Elbaek has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Liddell's face.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Elbaek swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Liddell is now in Elbaek's guard. A big mistake from Elbaek there, giving up the dominant position!

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Elbaek is on top in guard.
Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Elbaek on the ground.

Elbaek keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Liddell's head.

Elbaek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Elbaek distracts Liddell with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Elbaek drops back looking for a leg! Liddell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Liddell manages to kick Elbaek off! Elbaek jumps back into Liddell's guard.

Elbaek wants to control from the top but Liddell keeps moving.

Elbaek thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Elbaek postures up in Liddell's guard and throws a big left but Liddell blocks it.
Elbaek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Elbaek accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Elbaek with a flurry of punches that miss.

Elbaek is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Elbaek throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Elbaek in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Liddell has momentary wrist control but Elbaek slips an elbow through the middle.
Elbaek scoring with punches to the head and body.

Elbaek drops back looking for a leg! Liddell is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Liddell manages to kick Elbaek off! Elbaek jumps back into Liddell's guard.
Elbaek postures up and lands a big shot to Liddell's brow.

Elbaek won't allow Liddell to sweep him here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Elbaek prevents Liddell from getting back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Liddell manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Elbaek tries to reverse the position but Liddell maintains control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jesper Elbaek dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Liddell throws a series of punches but Elbaek moves out of range.
Elbaek throws a lazy head kick
and Liddell counters with an outside leg kick.
Horrible takedown by Liddell or perhaps it was just good defense by Elbaek which made him look bad.

Liddell closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Come on Liddell - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Elbaek tries to stall but Liddell uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Liddell takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Elbaek throws an elbow but it misses.

Liddell wants a takedown.

Liddell jumps guard.
Elbaek landing with the ground and pound.
Elbaek cracks Liddell with a solid left hand.
Elbaek throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Liddell on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Liddell tries to get out of the position.
Elbaek trying to control the position from guard on top but Liddell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Elbaek lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Elbaek advances to half guard.

Elbaek is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Elbaek is trying to work for a kimura but Liddell is defending well.

Elbaek is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Liddell doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Elbaek.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Elbaek maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Liddell could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Elbaek has cracked it and Liddell is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Elbaek!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jesper Elbaek!
Jesper Elbaek was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
