Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joey Japan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Faria!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Thiago Cunha and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Japan shoots in but no luck this time.
Faria looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Faria stuffs the takedown attempt from Japan. Japan gets slowly back to his feet.

Japan feints and as Faria raises his hands in defense, Japan changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Japan looking to pass the guard.
Japan thows a big elbow that misses.

Japan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Faria preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Faria avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Japan passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The strikes coming from Japan are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Japan taking a breather here.

Japan decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Japan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Japan turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Faria really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Japan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The ground and pound from Japan seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Faria on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Japan connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Faria some visible discomfort.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Japan working the ground and pound but Faria is defending the strikes.
Japan has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Japan sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Japan lands with some strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Japan is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Faria can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Faria has left one of his arms exposed and Japan doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Faria screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
