Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mike Lewis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Stephen Marshal!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Josh West.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marshal misses with the combination.
Marshal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lewis moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lewis looks to clinch
and Lewis takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Marshal lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Lewis circles away quickly and effectively.
Marshal swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Lewis lands with a slapping head kick.
Marshal checks a low kick from Lewis.
Lewis tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Marshal paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lewis moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Marshal closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Marshal takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Marshal throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lewis.
Lewis tries to clinch up but Marshal circles away and keeps his distance.
Sloppy strikes from Lewis. Those never looked like landing.
Marshal throws a one two combo.
Marshal looks gassed!
Marshal lands a two punch combo.
Marshal throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lewis looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lewis tries a head kick but it misses.
Lewis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Lewis throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Lewis closes the distance but Marshal moves to the side
and Marshal counters with a three punch combo that has Lewis backing up. Lewis nods at Marshal to acknowledge the strikes.
A head kick misses from Lewis.
Lewis plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Marshal walks forward, straight into a front kick from Lewis.
Lewis lands a brutal head kick. Marshal looks out on his feet and Lewis throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick and Punches). Mike Lewis!
Our winner, Mike Lewis, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
