Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Saifullah Gaziev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anthony Pettis!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Illya Tyunina and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Gaziev. No joy for Pettis on that attempt.
Pettis looks for a takedown but Gaziev sprawls well.
Gaziev wants to clinch up but Pettis keeps it at a distance.
Gaziev swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Pettis counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pettis.
Pettis trying to control but Gaziev is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gaziev manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pettis is working to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Gaziev trying to control but Pettis is having none of it.
Pettis keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Pettis regains half guard.
Gaziev wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pettis keeps working.
Pettis wants to control but Gaziev is keeping busy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gaziev perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Pettis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gaziev is working away from the top position though.
Pettis makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Pettis.

Pettis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gaziev doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gaziev manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pettis working for a triangle but Gaziev defends it easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pettis manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Pettis quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Pettis but it's paid off an Gaziev is forced to tap! Nice work by Pettis.
