Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Greg Stairs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, carlos boom! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Thiago Cunha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! boom throws a right hand that Stairs ducks under and follows up with a left that Stairs also avoids with ease. Stairs scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. boom tries to roll over but Stairs keeps him under control. boom is trying to stand up here but Stairs is controlling him well. Stairs is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Stairs is keen to just control but boom is a slippery customer. Stairs uses his free foot to push down on boom's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for boom. boom is looking to improve his position but Stairs isn't that keen on the idea. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! boom is squirming around, avoiding Stairs's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stairs looking to secure an arm triangle but boom defends it well. boom really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Stairs working for a submission but boom is keeping him at bay. Stairs working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. boom turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Stairs off and cradles boom's limp body as Stairs celebrates with his corner.
