The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Poirier clinches.
Poirier misses with the head strike.

Poirier breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Poirier has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Poirier there as he acknowledges the shot.
Esteba is looking to clinch but Poirier is avoiding it.
Esteba scores with a sloppy right hand. Poirier should have avoided that one.
Poirier keeps the fight on the outside.
Esteba is looking to clinch.
Poirier swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Esteba connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Poirier momentarily.
Esteba is looking to clinch.
A jab from Esteba does it's job there.
Esteba takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Poirier takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Esteba fails to land with a series of punches.
Poirier wants to clinch up but Esteba keeps it at a distance.

Poirier moves into the clinch.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Poirier.
Poirier misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Poirier lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Poirier's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Esteba tries to clinch there but Poirier circles away.
Poirier throws a series of punches but Esteba moves out of range.
Esteba moves in looking to clinch but Poirier pushes him off.
Poirier lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.

Poirier lands a big uppercut and Esteba crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Esteba looks OK. Poirier waves Esteba back to his feet!

Esteba is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Poirier clinches.
Oh Esteba is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Poirier digs a right hand underneath Esteba's ribcage. Esteba let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Poirier unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Esteba! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Poirier is unloading with more strikes now! Esteba drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
