Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Randy Hurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Randy Hurt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Liam Powell!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Hurt. Powell does a little dance to reset his feet.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Hurt.
Sloppy strikes there by Hurt.
Powell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hurt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Powell is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Powell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hurt is chipping away with strikes.
Hurt stands up and beckons Powell to his feet.
Hurt gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Hurt has Powell pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Powell manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Powell wants to stall.
Hurt looking to stall.
Powell wants to take the fight to the mat but Hurt manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Powell dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Hurt prevents a takedown attempt there.
Hurt tries a body shot but Powell blocks it.
Powell pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hurt fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hurt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Hurt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hurt gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Powell to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hurt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Powell looking to sit in guard and control but Hurt gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Hurt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Powell swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hurt wants to control from the top but Powell keeps moving.
Hurt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hurt accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Powell tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Powell has his foot on Hurt's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hurt works his way back into a safe position though.
Powell looks gassed!
Hurt trying to control the position from guard on top but Powell is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Powell looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Powell keeping full guard, as Hurt tries to pass.
Hurt throwing strikes but missing.
Hurt passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Powell takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Powell is looking for a sweep.
Hurt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Hurt lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Hurt scores with punches from side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hurt is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Powell is trying to escape and Hurt transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Powell is forced to tap! Nice work there by Hurt! Very nice indeed!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Randy Hurt!
