Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Leonardo Da Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Steve Buscemi! The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buscemi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Da Silva sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Buscemi somewhat. Da Silva closes this distance looking for a takedown but Buscemi circles away. Buscemi throws a head kick that misses and Da Silva counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Buscemi is lucky that one didn't land flush. Da Silva has managed to clinch.
Da Silva is trying to drag Buscemi to the mat but Buscemi just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there. Buscemi gets control of Da Silva's arms and successfully pulls guard. Buscemi will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Da Silva trying to control but Buscemi is working from the bottom. Da Silva throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Da Silva trying to control but Buscemi is working from the bottom. Buscemi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Da Silva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Da Silva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Da Silva missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Buscemi tries to strike from the bottom.
Buscemi wants to stand but Da Silva is controlling the position. Da Silva is standing up over Buscemi. Buscemi looks to escape but Da Silva dives into side control.
The strikes coming from Da Silva are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Buscemi tries to bench press Da Silva off him but Da Silva keeps the position. Da Silva wants to control but Buscemi is keeping him busy. Buscemi wants to get back to his feet. Da Silva wants to lay and pray for a moment but Buscemi keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Da Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Da Silva tries to stand but Buscemi is controlling his head. Da Silva scoring with punches and elbows. Da Silva landing strikes. Da Silva tries for a kimura but Buscemi is defending well. Da Silva taking a break here but Buscemi is having none of it and regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da Silva passes the guard and advances to mount! Buscemi tries to hold on but Da Silva pushes him away. Buscemi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Da Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Da Silva throws some wild stikes that Buscemi manages to avoid easily.
Buscemi is looking to improve his position but Da Silva isn't that keen on the idea. Da Silva working for a guillotine from mount but Buscemi is in no mood to give up. Da Silva trying to control but he's not successful this time. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buscemi tries to improve his position but instead Da Silva has taken his back! Buscemi trying to control the position but Da Silva manages to sink in the hooks. Da Silva tries to keep control of the position but Buscemi is staying busy. Buscemi is in bad spot here.
Buscemi fending off the submission attempt from Da Silva. Da Silva will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Buscemi defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Da Silva's arms. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Da Silva is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Buscemi is defending well though. Da Silva let's go of the attempt for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Leonardo Da Silva dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Da Silva uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Buscemi has time to react. Buscemi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Da Silva moves into the clinch. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Buscemi obliges. Buscemi tries a knee to the head but Da Silva blocks it.
Da Silva takes an elbow to the temple. Da Silva takes an elbow to the temple. Da Silva is trying to pull guard but Buscemi turns him against the ropes and we stay in the clinch. Buscemi lands an elbow just above Da Silva 's eye. Da Silva tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Buscemi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Buscemi drops his hands momentarily and Da Silva takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Buscemi closes the distance and clinches. This has been an exciting period of action! Da Silva has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice elbow from Buscemi. Da Silva takes an elbow to the forehead. Buscemi tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Buscemi manages to break the clinch.

Da Silva clinches up with Buscemi and pushes him back against the ropes. Buscemi pressing his opponent against the ropes. Buscemi manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Buscemi working for a triangle but Da Silva defends it easily.
Buscemi wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Silva wants to control from the top but Buscemi keeps moving. Da Silva prevents Buscemi from getting back to his feet. Buscemi keeping moving, preventing Da Silva from controlling successfully. Da Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Buscemi is retaining full guard. Buscemi manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Da Silva manages to get himself to full guard.
Da Silva is trying to control the position but Buscemi postures up. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Da Silva has his foot on Buscemi's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Buscemi works his way back into a safe position though. Buscemi has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Da Silva is proving hard to escape from. Buscemi should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da Silva looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Da Silva wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Buscemi is now in half guard. It looks like Buscemi is going to stand back up.
Da Silva wants to get back to his feet. Buscemi stands up out of the half guard. Buscemi shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Da Silva as he avoids it easily. Buscemi is breathing heavily. Da Silva avoids the head kick by Buscemi.
Da Silva moves into range and clinches up with Buscemi. Da Silva is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buscemi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Da Silva's efforts to push away. Stalling in the clinch from Buscemi.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Leonardo Da Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Buscemi manages to break the clinch.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Steve Buscemi will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's time! Da Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Buscemi gets in close and instigates a clinch. Buscemi dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the ropes. Da Silva has had enough of the clinch but Buscemi keeps him there for the moment. Buscemi pulls guard. Da Silva wants to control from the top but Buscemi keeps moving. Buscemi wants to get back to his feet but Da Silva is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Da Silva throws a big elbow that misses. Da Silva wants to control from the top but Buscemi keeps moving. Buscemi wants to stand and escape but Da Silva is having none of it. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Da Silva pushing down on Buscemi's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Da Silva misses with a head shot. Buscemi uses the momentum to regain guard. Da Silva pushes down on Buscemi's leg and manages to get into half guard. Da Silva thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Buscemi is looking to escape. Buscemi takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Da Silva wants to advance to full mount but Buscemi doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Buscemi controls Da Silva momentarily but Da Silva frees himself. Da Silva stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Buscemi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Da Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Da Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Buscemi striking off his back but it's not causing Da Silva any problems. Da Silva stopping the sweep attempt from Buscemi. Da Silva throwing strikes but missing. Da Silva wants to get up but he can't break Buscemi's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Da Silva wants to control from the top but Buscemi keeps moving. Buscemi is trying to control the position but Da Silva postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Da Silva throws a strike but Buscemi rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Buscemi wants to stand but Da Silva is controlling his posture from full guard. Da Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Buscemi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Da Silva looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Da Silva is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Buscemi trying to stand up but can't free himself from Da Silva's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buscemi gets to his feet. Da Silva looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Da Silva moves into the clinch. Buscemi escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Da Silva turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Buscemi slaps away a takedown attempt from Da Silva, before circling back to the center of the mat. Da Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buscemi tries to avoid it but Da Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buscemi to the ground. Buscemi escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Leonardo Da Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Buscemi has managed to clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Nice elbow from Buscemi. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Buscemi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Buscemi moves into the clinch. Buscemi lands a good knee to the midsection. Da Silva won't want to take too many of those. Buscemi with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Steve Buscemi. I think Buscemi has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
