PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Otto Graf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Felix Amsel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Graf has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Felix Amsel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Otto Graf!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Felix Amsel!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Amsel, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Amsel tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Graf swivels and escapes.
Amsel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Graf circles away.
Amsel keeps the fight on the outside.
Amsel misses with a takedown attempt - Graf sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Otto Graf has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felix Amsel.
Graf fails with an attempt to clinch.
Amsel shoots in looking for a takedown but Graf manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Amsel's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Graf is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Amsel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Amsel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Graf circles away.
Graf tries to clinch but Amsel is having none of it.

Graf tries a knee to the head but Amsel blocks it.

Amsel pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Amsel dives in and grabs Graf's left leg, looking for a takedown. Graf pushes down on Amsel's head and hops out.
Amsel closes the distance and clinches up with Graf, looking for a takedown. Amsel pushes Graf against the cage but Graf circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Amsel fails to land the takedown.
Amsel looks gassed!
Amsel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Graf defends it nicely.

Graf has managed to clinch.
Amsel tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Graf just stands there and leans against the cage.
Graf will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Amsel up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Graf wants to break free but Amsel has control.

Graf's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Graf fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Amsel, pushing him back against the cage.
Graf is pressed up against the cage. Amsel has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Graf down to the mat. Graf avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Amsel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Graf is fending him off so far but Amsel persists. Nope, Graf circles away and we're back to standing.

Graf closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Amsel's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Graf stands up and waves to Amsel to follow him.
Sloppy strikes from Graf. Those never looked like landing.

Amsel has a takedown stuffed.
Graf misses with a jab, cross combination.
Amsel lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Graf backs up against the cage.
Amsel pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Graf leaves Amsel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Graf gets the takedown into side control.

Amsel gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Graf content just to control the position here.
Graf landing strikes, looking to finish!
Graf tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Otto Graf dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Amsel closes the distance looking to clinch

and Graf counters by moving into the clinch.

Graf wants the takedown. Amsel is fighting it off but Graf persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Amsel's guard against the cage.
Amsel is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Graf is controlling him.

Graf decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Amsel moves to clinch but Graf breaks away

and Graf counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Graf seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Graf stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Amsel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Amsel is working an open guard so Graf takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Amsel misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Amsel ducks under a wild hook from Graf.

Graf scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Graf seems to be working for a kimura but Amsel defends the submission attempt.

We're going to have a standup here because Otto Graf wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Amsel clinches.
Graf is looking to break free of the clinch but Amsel has double underhooks.

Graf pulls guard effortlessly.
Amsel wants to control from the top but Graf keeps moving.

Graf tries to strike from the bottom.
Graf is pulling down on Amsel's head. It's preventing any offense from Amsel, at least for the moment.

Graf working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Amsel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Graf is tightening it up a little... Amsel has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Amsel reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Amsel taps out! Nice BJJ there by Graf!
