Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Erickson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Lukas Hein!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hein walks into a stiff left hand from Erickson.
Erickson keeps the fight on the outside.
Erickson throws a head kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hein looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Erickson throws a series of punches but Hein avoids them all with ease.

Hein looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lukas Hein seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hein shoots in but no luck this time.

and Erickson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Hein won't be happy with that.

Hein tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Erickson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Erickson is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Hein's shoulder. That is not cool.
Hein is working to avoid the ground and pound but Erickson connects with a decent elbow.
Hein tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad.
Hein looks gassed!
Erickson lands a nice shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Erickson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Erickson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Erickson cracks Hein with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Erickson fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Hein tries for a takedown but Erickson circles away easily

and Erickson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.


Hein is rocked!
Hein is looking to stand up but Erickson isn't so interested in that idea.
Erickson distracts Hein with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Erickson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Erickson passes Hein's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Hein is breathing heavily.
Erickson lands with a punch from half guard.
Erickson has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Hein is bucking up trying to escape but Erickson cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
You get the feeling that Hein really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Hein wants to hold on but Erickson pushes him away.
Hein is desperately trying to improve his position but Erickson has a good base and remains in mount.
Erickson content just to control the position here.

Erickson looking for a guillotine from mount but Hein is having none of it.
Hein really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Erickson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Michael Erickson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
BOOM! Erickson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Erickson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hein is looking to escape.

Erickson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hein's face.
Erickson trying to control but Hein is having none of it.
Erickson in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Erickson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Hein can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Hein is still in real trouble! Can Erickson finish him?

Hein seems to have recovered his senses.
Erickson lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Hein hang on?

Erickson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Hein tries to improve his position but Erickson has taken his back! Erickson has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hein tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Erickson pushes Hein away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
