Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mikkel Bukholt Nielsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lopez Afro!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Felipe Paraventi and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nielsen scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Mikkel Bukholt Nielsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nielsen throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Afro fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Nielsen checks it well.
Nielsen rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Afro moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Afro tries to clinch there but Nielsen circles away.
Afro tries to land a body kick
and Nielsen counters with a left and a right that stings Afro.
Nielsen checks a leg kick.
Afro tries to work over Nielsen's front leg with a kick but Nielsen checks it.
Afro does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Afro is looking to clinch but Nielsen is avoiding it.
Afro throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Nielsen lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Afro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Nielsen. Afro does a little dance to reset his feet.
Afro finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Afro tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Nielsen counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Nielsen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Nielsen seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Afro is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
