Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Munoz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dalern Hardt!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardt shoots in for a double leg but Munoz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hardt feints and as Munoz raises his hands in defense, Hardt changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hardt wants to pass the guard but Munoz is keeping the position.
Hardt missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Munoz has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hardt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Munoz is keeping the position for now.
Hardt is fighting to break Munoz's control of his arms but Munoz is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Munoz looking for a sweep. Not yet Munoz, not yet.

Mark Munoz has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Munoz closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hardt quickly recovers to half guard.
Hardt is trying to get back to full guard.

Hardt looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Munoz lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Munoz seems to be working for a kimura but Hardt defends the submission attempt.
Hardt regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hardt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Munoz scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Munoz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hardt is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hardt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Munoz is aware though and is defending well.
Munoz stands and throws Hardt's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Munoz lands some shots froms side control.

Munoz tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Munoz has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hardt manages to work his way to half guard, despite Munoz's best efforts.
Munoz thows a huge punch but Hardt dodges it nicely.

Munoz is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hardt looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Munoz lands a nice short elbow.

Hardt actively working from the bottom here.
Hardt wants to get back to full guard.
Munoz missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Munoz throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hardt wants to control but Munoz is keeping busy.
Munoz is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hardt!
Hardt is working to get back to half guard.
Hardt is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
BOOM! Munoz connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hardt regains half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Hardt wants to control but Munoz is keeping busy.
Ground and pound from Munoz.
Hardt tries to get to full guard but Munoz has control of the leg.
Hardt is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Munoz scores with a couple of nice shots.
Hardt moves into full guard.

Hardt looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hardt throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Munoz lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Munoz working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Hardt's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Munoz stands up over Hardt, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Hardt is looking to sinch up a triangle. Munoz throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Hardt's body to avoid the submission. Hardt has instead reached around Munoz's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Hardt arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Dalern Hardt!
