PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Elix Skipper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Jaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Jaw told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elix Skipper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Jaw!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Skipper fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Jaw to the ground. Skipper is now in Jaw's guard.
Jaw tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Jaw keeping moving, preventing Skipper from controlling successfully.
Jaw pulls Skipper in close to his closed guard and prevents Skipper from doing any damage or advancing position.
Skipper throwing strikes from guard but Jaw blocks nicely.
Skipper is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Jaw wants to stand and escape but Skipper is having none of it.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Jaw really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skipper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Jaw is in a horrible position here. Skipper smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Jaw throws a leg kick which misses Skipper's front leg but catches the back leg as Skipper tries to avoid it.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Jaw.
Skipper shoots in looking for a takedown. Jaw tries to sprawl out of it but Skipper keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jaw manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Jack Jaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Skipper throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jaw's waist but Jaw gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Skipper off to one side.

Jaw connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Skipper momentarily.
Skipper looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jaw is fending him off so far but Skipper persists. Nope, Jaw circles away and we're back to standing.

Skipper tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jaw manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jack Jaw is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Skipper lands with a straight right. Jaw didn't see that one coming.
Skipper swings for the body but Jaw moves out of range.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Skipper is defended easily by Jaw.

Jaw connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Skipper momentarily.

Skipper rushes Jaw and presses him up against the cage.
Skipper effectively controlling the action here.
Jaw blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Skipper tries to pull guard but Jaw holds him up against the cage and eventually Skipper drops back down to his feet.
Jaw is trying to maintain a safe position but Skipper gets an underhook and turns Jaw into the cage.
Skipper goes for a takedown attempt but Jaw pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Jaw counters with a good low kick that Skipper was not able to check.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jack Jaw.
I think Skipper has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
