Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Albert Steptoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Layden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steptoe comes to the cage accompanied by .. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Albert Steptoe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Mitch Layden! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.

Layden slaps away a takedown attempt from Steptoe, before circling back to the center of the mat. Steptoe wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Steptoe fails with a takedown attempt. Layden misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Layden is looking to land body kicks. Steptoe scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Steptoe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Albert Steptoe. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steptoe on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Steptoe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Steptoe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Steptoe jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Layden is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Layden and Steptoe has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Steptoe content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Layden blocking the ground and pound attempt from Steptoe. Steptoe stalling away here and it's allowed Layden to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Steptoe trying to control but Layden is working from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Albert Steptoe dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Layden throws a hook but Steptoe blocks it. Mitch Layden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Good shot there by Steptoe.
Steptoe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Layden has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Steptoe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Steptoe trying to control the position from guard on top but Layden is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Layden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Layden is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Layden looking to sit in guard and control but Steptoe gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Layden is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Steptoe postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Layden is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Steptoe, into his guard. Layden throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steptoe works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Layden is fighting to break Steptoe's control of his arms but Steptoe is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Steptoe is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Layden accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Layden chips away with some ground and pound.
Steptoe has his foot on Layden's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Layden works his way back into a safe position though. Steptoe working a defensive guard here.

Layden working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Steptoe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Steptoe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Steptoe wants to control from the top but Layden keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Mitch Layden will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Layden tries for a takedown but Steptoe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Steptoe throws a series of punches but Layden avoids them all with ease. Steptoe takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Mitch Layden seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Steptoe is defended easily by Layden. Layden bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Steptoe's head backwards. Steptoe looks to land a left hand but Layden moved out of range nicely. Layden slips under a jab from Steptoe.

That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Steptoe closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Layden quickly recovers to half guard. Layden won't allow Steptoe to pass to mount. Layden is not content to let Steptoe control the position. Steptoe is pressing down on Layden's thigh, looking to free his foot. Layden is holding on for now.

Steptoe throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Layden to regain full guard. Steptoe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Layden swivels though and keeps the full guard. Layden keeping moving, preventing Steptoe from controlling successfully. Albert Steptoe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Layden gets caught napping as Steptoe dives in and scores a takedown. Layden manages to retain guard. Layden tries to strike from the bottom.
Layden has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Steptoe is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Layden. Layden tries to improve position but can't.

Steptoe is working for an americana but Layden has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Steptoe was thinking about the submission.
Steptoe gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
And that's the end of the fight! Albert Steptoe showed his dominance in that final round. I think Steptoe has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
