PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jim James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and mad mic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, mad mic!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

mic drives through and clinches with James against the cage.

mic ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. mic no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
mic is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea.

mic has an active guard here but James has managed to pass into half guard.
mic wants to control but James is keeping busy.
mic might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control James kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
mic is trying to stand up here but James is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James decides to return to a standing position.
James closes the distance but mic moves to the side

and mic counters by moving into the clinch.
mic is trying to maintain a safe position but James gets an underhook and turns mic into the cage.
James prevents the takedown attempt.
mic jumps guard but James stands there with mic around his waist. mic gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
James could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
James wants to break free but mic has control.

mic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
mic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
James throws a head kick that misses.
Jim James is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

James moves into the clinch.

mic breaks the clinch.
James closes the distance looking to clinch

and mic counters with a takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
mic content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
mic looks gassed!
James bucks up and tries to throw mic off but instead mic has got his back!

James preventing the rear naked choke attempt from mic.
James controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
mic trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
James is trying to get back to his feet but mic has full control of the position and if anything, James has just worked his way into a worse spot.
James covering up well and avoiding damage.
mic wants to control the position but James frees himself and scrambles - mic manages to regain control in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
James misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
James wants to clinch but mic slips to the side

and mic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in James's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

mad mic dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


James tries to clinch

and mic counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
James tries to kick mic off in order to stand up. mic Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
mic is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

mic wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by James, who protects the arm well.
mic tries to advance to mount but James denies him.
mic is breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
mic working the head with strikes.
James is looking to work his way out of this bad position but mic is controlling him well.
mic trying to control the position but James is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
James wants to get back to his feet but mic drags him back down.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
James will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

James rushes mic and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
James fails to pull guard.
James gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from mic.
James is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James is trying to break the clinch but mic has him pressed against the cage.

mic has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics James uses from the top position.
James trying to stand up but can't free himself from mic's guard.
mic is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

James stands and steps away. mic gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Horrible takedown by mic or perhaps it was just good defense by James which made him look bad.
James lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
James works over mic's head and body with a nice combination.
James throws a lazy head kick

and mic holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

mic breaks from the clinch.
James misses with a two punch combination.
James circles to his right before unloading a perfect head kick! mic drops to the canvas, hurt badly! James follows mic to the ground and unloads with a series of strikes that force the referee to step in and end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jim James!
