Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Matt McKenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Matt McKenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chuck Jones!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenzie connects with a nice looking jab.
McKenzie defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jones.
McKenzie lands with a thumping leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by McKenzie.

Jones feints and as McKenzie raises his hands in defense, Jones changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jones is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McKenzie is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McKenzie has escaped and now he's on top!
McKenzie wanted to stand there but Jones had control of the position.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McKenzie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
McKenzie wants to stand and escape but instead Jones has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Jones has gone for a leg lock! McKenzie slips out almost immediately though and dives into Jones's guard.
McKenzie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.
McKenzie trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but McKenzie can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
McKenzie wants to stand but Jones is controlling his posture from full guard.
McKenzie has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jones is on top in guard.

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McKenzie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McKenzie pinned against the cage. McKenzie gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A combination from McKenzie does no damage.
Jones is looking to clinch but McKenzie is avoiding it.
A punch combination from McKenzie misses.
Jones on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
McKenzie fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
McKenzie connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
McKenzie leaves Jones with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McKenzie lets loose with a powerful body kick. Jones will feel that in the morning.
McKenzie throws a predictable looking body shot

and Jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for McKenzie!

Jones jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but McKenzie manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Jones thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McKenzie, who protects the arm well.

Jones goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, McKenzie has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jones but great work by McKenzie.

McKenzie stands up and beckons Jones to his feet.
Matt McKenzie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McKenzie stuffs the takedown.
Matt McKenzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Jones.
Jones looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
McKenzie thumps Jones with a low kick.
Jones takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
McKenzie moves away from the strike by Jones.

Jones fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McKenzie sprawls well initially but Jones persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McKenzie wants to get back to his feet.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but McKenzie is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. McKenzie doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Jones is working for a kimura but McKenzie is defending it quite comfortably.

Jones is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Chuck Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Jones takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Jones ducks right into an uppercut from McKenzie.
McKenzie looks to land a left hand but Jones moved out of range nicely.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McKenzie's waist but McKenzie gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.
McKenzie lands with a right hand.
McKenzie lands a jab to Jones's midsection.
McKenzie scores with a kick to the midsection.
McKenzie throws a sloppy head kick

and Jones moves into the clinch.

McKenzie escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
McKenzie connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
McKenzie swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Jones moves in looking to clinch but McKenzie pushes him off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McKenzie will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Matt McKenzie is winning the standup battle so far.
McKenzie stalks Jones and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Jones's face. Jones staggers backwards, shaken.
Matt McKenzie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
McKenzie feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Joness jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
McKenzie stuns Jones with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Jones shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. McKenzie defends it nicely.
Matt McKenzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Jones.
McKenzie lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
McKenzie lands with a kick to the temple. Jones shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
McKenzie misses with a head kick.

Matt McKenzie has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McKenzie is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jones, into his guard.
Jones looking to hit a scissor sweep but McKenzie is one step ahead there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Jones looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

McKenzie trying to stand up but can't free himself from Jones's guard.

Jones has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think McKenzie should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Jones has tightened it up now! McKenzie should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Chuck Jones!
