Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Josh Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fedor Emelianenko! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones forces Emelianenko back against the cage and clinches. Emelianenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jones looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Emelianenko manages to get to full guard.
Jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Jones trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom. Emelianenko has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jones accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Emelianenko working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Emelianenko sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard. Emelianenko is pressing down on Jones's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jones is holding on for now. Jones looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Emelianenko uses his free foot to push down on Jones's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jones. Emelianenko lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like Josh Jones has been cut. Emelianenko controlling the position easily from mount. Jones tries to reverse the position but Emelianenko maintains control. Emelianenko lands a heavy elbow. Emelianenko gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Jones is striking but Emelianenko is not phased and passes to half guard. Emelianenko is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Emelianenko takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Jones is not content to let Emelianenko control the position. Emelianenko lands strikes from half guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Emelianenko manages to pass to side control. Emelianenko taking a breather here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Emelianenko scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Emelianenko thows a left - swing and a miss! Emelianenko scores with a jab to the jaw. Emelianenko lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Jones takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Emelianenko. Emelianenko misses with a straight right. Jones manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Emelianenko on his heels. He'll look to pass Emelianenko's guard now, I'm sure. Emelianenko throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Emelianenko escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Jones throws a big elbow that misses. Jones throws an elbow that misses. Emelianenko uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Emelianenko! Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. That's two minutes gone in the round. Emelianenko is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jones throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Emelianenko stands up and waves to Jones to follow him. Jones closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Emelianenko quickly recovers to half guard. Emelianenko makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Emelianenko. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones postures up in Emelianenko's guard and throws a big left but Emelianenko blocks it. Jones trying to control but Emelianenko is working from the bottom. Emelianenko trying to keep a closed guard but Jones is proving a slippery customer.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jones has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Emelianenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Emelianenko passes into half guard. Emelianenko wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Jones has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Jones reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Jones taps out!
