Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sean Cox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seamus Omalley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cox might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Mindless Self Indulgence - Pussy All Night. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Sean Cox! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Seamus Omalley! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Omalley tries to avoid it but Cox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Omalley to the ground. Omalley escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Cox takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Cox gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Omalley counters with a nice leg kick. Cox with a lazy takedown attempt and Omalley counters with an outside leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Cox. That's going to take a lot out of him. Cox chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Omalley can pounce on him.
Omalley scores with a hook to the body. Cox takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Sean Cox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Omalley feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Cox's calf. Cox looks for a takedown but Omalley sprawls well. Omalley turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Cox fails with the takedown and Omalley makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Omalley scoring well with a low kick there.
Cox with a poor takedown and Omalley counters with an inside leg kick. Cox has his takedown stuffed and Omalley counters with a good low kick that Cox was not able to check. Cox misses with a takedown attempt and Omalley counters with an inside leg kick. Omalley digs a good body shot into Cox's ribs. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Cox misses with a takedown and Omalley counters with a low kick, right behind Cox 's knee. Cox is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Omalley throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Omalley chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Cox doesn't succeed with the takedown and Omalley counters with a nice leg kick. Nice body kick there by Omalley. Omalley cracks the inside of Cox's front leg. Cox closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Omalley quickly recovers to half guard. Omalley keeps control of the position for the meantime. Omalley is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cox's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cox's back! Omalley keeps control of the position easily here as Cox tries to buck him off.
Omalley is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Cox has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Omalley patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Omalley trying to control. Cox looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cox is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Cox is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Omalley trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Cox doesn't escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Omalley is looking for the choke from the back position but Cox is controlling his hands well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Omalley biding his time, controlling Cox. Cox is keeping busy.

Seamus Omalley dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Cox tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Omalley shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Omalley showed some decent athleticism there. Omalley passes to side control. Omalley goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Cox rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Omalley's guard! Nice work there by Cox! Omalley escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cox gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Omalley throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Cox throwing strikes but missing. Omalley trying to keep a closed guard but Cox is proving a slippery customer.
Omalley avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Omalley keeping full guard, as Cox tries to pass. Cox preventing the sweep. Cox content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Omalley utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cox works over Omalley with some ground and pound from guard. Omalley is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Cox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Omalley on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Omalley lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cox! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Omalley controlling the pace for now. Cox manages to work a leg through to get back to half guard here. Good work there by Cox, under a barage of strikes from Omalley.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Omalley wants to control but Cox is keeping him busy. Omalley is pressing down on Cox's thigh, looking to free his foot. Cox is holding on for now. Cox on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cox tries to get out of the position. Omalley is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Cox! Cox is squirming around, avoiding Omalley's attempts to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Omalley controlling his opponent. Omalley working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Omalley jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Cox is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Cox and Omalley has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Seamus Omalley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cox shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Omalley but Omalley pushes him off and we're back to square one. Omalley connects with an inside leg kick. Cox tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Cox's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Omalley connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Cox scrambles back to his feet. Cox takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Cox walks into a stiff left hand from Omalley. Cox with a poor takedown and Omalley counters with a slapping leg kick. Omalley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Omalley moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Omalley is looking to take a break and control but Cox is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Omalley goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cox has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Omalley but great work by Cox. Cox tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Omalley is looking to regain half guard here but Cox keeps moving and retains side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Omalley taking a bit of punishment here - Cox scoring with strikes. Seamus Omalley is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cox working the head with strikes. Cox working the body and head with strikes. Cox cracks Omalley with an elbow. That is naaassty. Omalley gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Omalley gets back to full guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Omalley has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Omalley working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Cox. Cox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Omalley swivels though and keeps the full guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Omalley is on top in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Omalley trying to control but Cox is working from the bottom. Cox is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Cox with a poor takedown and Omalley makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sean Cox. That's going to take a lot out of him. Omalley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Cox. Cox tries to score a power double leg takedown but Omalley sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cox somewhat. Omalley throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cox shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Omalley to counter with a crisp jab. Cox gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Omalley makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Omalley with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Cox shoots and misses and Omalley counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Good leg kick by Omalley there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Cox has his takedown stuffed and Omalley counters with a leg kick. Cox with a lazy takedown attempt and Omalley counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Omalley scoring well with a low kick there.
Cox doesn't succeed with the takedown and Omalley connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Seamus Omalley seems to be getting the better of the standup. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Omalley looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Omalley is trying to control the action in half guard but Cox is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Seamus Omalley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Omalley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
