PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryszard Duch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kelev Ra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duch kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is John Cage's 4'33". Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kelev Ra!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Radbod Blank and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ra tries to close the distance and clinch but Duch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Duch looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Ra wants to clinch up but Duch keeps it at a distance.
Ra fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Ra has managed to clinch.

Ra breaks from the clinch.
Duch really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Ra has closed the distance and engaged Duch in a clinch.

Ra's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Duch defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ra.
Duch keeps the fight on the outside.
Ra shoots for a double leg takedown but Duch sprawls well. He's pushed Ra's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ra moves into the clinch successfully.

Ra escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ra shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Duch pinned against the cage. Duch gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Ra delivers a nice body kick.

Ra throws a head kick that Duch semi-blocks.

Ra moves into the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Ra manages to break the clinch.
Ra tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Duch manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kelev Ra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ra takes the fight into the clinch.

Ra breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Duch counters with a single leg into guard. Ra didn't expect that.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Duch drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ra looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ra looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ra!
Duch parries the strikes from Ra easily there. Ra is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Duch to escape.

Ra tries for a kimura but Duch is defending well.

Duch is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ra misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Ra tries to advance to mount but Duch denies him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Ra tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kelev Ra dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Ra is looking to clinch but Duch is avoiding it.
Ra slaps away a takedown attempt from Duch, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Ra clinches with his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Duch changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Ra fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Sloppy strikes from Ra. Those never looked like landing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ra doesn't manage to clinch there - Duch circles away.
Ra will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ra misses with a head kick.
Ra lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Ryszard Duch has been cut.
Ra moves in looking to clinch but Duch pushes him off.

Ra shoots in for a takedown but Duch shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Kelev Ra seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ra lands a high kick!
Ra fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Duch avoids it really well and circles away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ra shoots in looking for a takedown. Duch tries to sprawl out of it but Ra keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duch manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ra gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ra not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Duch postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Ra is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Duch, into his guard.
Ra postures up in Duch's guard and throws a big left but Duch blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ra trying to control but Duch is working from the bottom.

Ra content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Duch has locked up a guillotine! Duch's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Ra is holding on here and Duch must be using up a lot of energy. Ra has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Duch gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ryszard Duch!
Ryszard Duch decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
