Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Rafael Van Der Hoef! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Natan Grygiel! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Wagner Zegers and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Van Der Hoef misses with a leg kick. Rafael Van Der Hoef seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Van Der Hoef is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Van Der Hoef displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Grygiel. Grygiel avoids a punch combination nicely.
Van Der Hoef gets caught flat footed, as Grygiel shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Grygiel trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Van Der Hoef has his hands on Grygiel's head, controlling the position. Grygiel postures up.
Van Der Hoef knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Grygiel on the ground. Van Der Hoef seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Grygiel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Rafael Van Der Hoef just wasn't active enough. Grygiel fails with the takedown and Van Der Hoef connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. This has been an exciting period of action! Grygiel gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grygiel wants to free his trapped foot but Van Der Hoef is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grygiel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Van Der Hoef does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Van Der Hoef wants to improve his position but Grygiel is controlling well.
Grygiel slips a nice elbow through Van Der Hoef's hands, connecting with Van Der Hoef's forehead. Grygiel is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Van Der Hoef defends it well. Grygiel is trying to work for a kimura but Van Der Hoef is defending well.
Van Der Hoef is looking to improve his position.

Van Der Hoef is really struggling to control Grygiel but he's trying to hold on to the position. Grygiel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Der Hoef swivels though and keeps the full guard. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Van Der Hoef is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Rafael Van Der Hoef. Van Der Hoef lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Grygiel backs up against the cage.
Grygiel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Grygiel showed some decent athleticism there. Grygiel is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Van Der Hoef sees it coming and defends easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Van Der Hoef tries to roll over but Grygiel keeps him under control. Grygiel sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Van Der Hoef defending well though. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grygiel wants to work for an arm triangle but Van Der Hoef is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Grygiel prevents Van Der Hoef from improving his position. Van Der Hoef slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Van Der Hoef looking to control.
Van Der Hoef looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Grygiel has gone for a leg lock! Van Der Hoef slips out almost immediately though and dives into Grygiel's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Rafael Van Der Hoef will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Van Der Hoef misses with a low kick. A telegraphed right hand from Van Der Hoef misses the target. Grygiel tries to close the distance and clinch up but Van Der Hoef swats him away and circles back towards the center. Van Der Hoef digs a good body shot into Grygiel's ribs. Left hook, right uppercut from Van Der Hoef.
It looks like Natan Grygiel has been cut. Grygiel gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Grygiel has a takedown stuffed. Grygiel looks for a takedown but Van Der Hoef sprawls well. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Van Der Hoef throws a head kick but Grygiel moves out of range.
Grygiel misses with a two punch combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Van Der Hoef. Grygiel does a little dance to reset his feet. Van Der Hoef lands a right hook to the body.
Van Der Hoef throws a combination that misses and Grygiel counters with a nice double leg into guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Van Der Hoef is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Grygiel is breathing heavily. Grygiel controlling the position well. Grygiel trying to hold on to Van Der Hoef's head to control him but Van Der Hoef postures up.
Van Der Hoef trying to control the action but Grygiel is working from the bottom. Van Der Hoef looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Van Der Hoef looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Van Der Hoef is looking to take a break and control but Grygiel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We're going to have a standup here because Rafael Van Der Hoef wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Van Der Hoef pivots, looking for a leg kick but Grygiel is out of range and Van Der Hoef settles back down. Grygiel blocks a jab. Van Der Hoef connects with a body shot that sends Grygiel's belly button to the back. Rafael Van Der Hoef is winning the standup battle so far. No luck with that takedown attempt from Grygiel. Rafael Van Der Hoef has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Natan Grygiel. Grygiel shoots in and drives through. Van Der Hoef sprawls well. Van Der Hoef ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grygiel moves away. Grygiel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Der Hoef tries to avoid it but Grygiel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Der Hoef to the ground. Van Der Hoef escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Grygiel showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Van Der Hoef.
Rafael Van Der Hoef is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grygiel avoids the head kick by Van Der Hoef.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grygiel changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Van Der Hoef tries to avoid it but Grygiel manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Van Der Hoef to the ground. Van Der Hoef escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A momentary lapse in concentration from Van Der Hoef enables Grygiel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Van Der Hoef manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Grygiel being controlled here momentarily. Grygiel postures up.

Grygiel throws a big elbow that misses. Van Der Hoef pulls Grygiel in close to his closed guard and prevents Grygiel from doing any damage or advancing position. Grygiel works a leg free and moves into half guard. Van Der Hoef is defending against the submission attempts here by Grygiel.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Grygiel is working for a kimura but Van Der Hoef is defending it quite comfortably.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Rafael Van Der Hoef dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Natan Grygiel's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Van Der Hoef stuns Grygiel with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Grygiel takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Grygiel takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Van Der Hoef bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Grygiel's head backwards.
Grygiel is rocked! Van Der Hoef fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Grygiel. Grygiel is still on wobbly legs! Can Van Der Hoef finish him? Van Der Hoef dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Van Der Hoef plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Grygiel swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Grygiel face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Rafael Van Der Hoef!
