The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sloppy strikes from McLachlan. Those never looked like landing. McLachlan misses the jab. Wild should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Wild gets caught flat footed, as McLachlan shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. McLachlan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Wild is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McLachlan defends well. Wild escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McLachlan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McLachlan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. McLachlan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wild on the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McLachlan has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wild keeping moving, preventing McLachlan from controlling successfully. McLachlan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. McLachlan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Wild has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McLachlan has managed to get both his arms back between Wild's legs - danger averted. Wild has his foot on McLachlan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McLachlan works his way back into a safe position though. McLachlan stays in close to Wild's body and controls the position. Wild has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. McLachlan doesn't defend quickly enough and Wild has managed to lock this one up! Can McLachlan escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wild on a fantastic submission victory.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Randell Wild! Randell Wild decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
