PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Bread (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Terry Sanders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Terry Sanders told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tommy Bread!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Terry Sanders!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanders has a takedown stuffed.
Sanders throws a nice looking combination but Bread bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Bread tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sanders swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sanders gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bread to score an easy takedown into full guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Sanders has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Bread off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Bread will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Sanders shoots in for a double leg but Bread sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Sanders fails with a takedown attempt.
Tommy Bread has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Terry Sanders.
Bread tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Sanders holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Sanders stalling.
Bread is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sanders gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Sanders breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sanders slaps away a takedown attempt from Bread, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Sanders fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bread, pushing him back against the cage.

Bread is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sanders is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Bread to the mat. Bread regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Bread bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sanders's guard.

Sanders has control of Bread's left arm, preventing Bread from doing any damage.

Bread gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bread misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bread tries to clinch but Sanders moves away
and Sanders counters with a big head kick but Bread shrugs it off.
Nice takedown defense from Sanders. No joy for Bread on that attempt.
Sanders stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sanders wants it to stay on the feet.
Bread is breathing heavily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Sanders. Bread shrugs it off though.

Sanders has managed to clinch.

Sanders has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Bread regains guard immediately.
Bread is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sanders tries to free his leg and advance position but Bread is retaining full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Tommy Bread wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Bread shoots for a double leg takedown but Sanders sprawls well. He's pushed Bread's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bread shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bread clinches.

Sanders gets control of Bread's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sanders will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Bread postures up.

Sanders is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Bread has had enough of the clinch but Sanders keeps him there for the moment.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bread is trying to push Sanders away but Sanders has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Sanders dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Bread enables Sanders to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bread manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sanders wants to control from the top but Bread keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bread looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Terry Sanders has got the better of the ground game so far.
Bread trying to control the position.
Sanders sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Sanders wants to control from the top but Bread keeps moving.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Bread wants to stand up but Sanders is controlling him.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Terry Sanders hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Sanders gets a clinch.

Sanders is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Bread can't fight it off and eventually Sanders manages to take the fight to the floor. Bread looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Sanders gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Bread shoots in looking for a takedown. Sanders tries to sprawl out of it but Bread keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Sanders manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Bread looks for a takedown but Sanders sprawls well.
Bread fails with an attempt to clinch.
Sanders tries a head kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Sanders checks the leg kick nicely there.

Bread shoots in for a double leg but Sanders sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Bread. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sanders avoids the head kick by Bread.
Sanders shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bread sprawls well. Bread wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sanders gets slowly back to his feet.
Bread swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Sanders is defended easily by Bread.
Tommy Bread is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Sanders as Bread tries to tie him up.
Sanders tries to pull guard but Bread forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Bread is trying to force a seperation but Sanders has the dominant position.
Bread wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Sanders jumps guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanders keeping moving, preventing Bread from controlling successfully.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sanders throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Sanders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Bread's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!



Bread looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sanders throws a strike from the bottom but Bread passes into side control!
Sanders tries to control but Bread manages to take his back.
Sanders covering up well under a series of strikes from Bread.
Bread is looking to control Sanders but Sanders is wriggling around and keeping busy.
Bread has the hooks in. Sanders is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Sanders won't enjoy being in this position. Bread looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Sanders is tapping - it's over boys! Bread picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tommy Bread!
