Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Merrick Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Musashimaru Koyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kane comes to the cage accompanied by Blood Sugar - Pendulum. The crowd seem to be enjoying Koyo's choice of entrance music: "Tengoku Kara Kaminari" by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole . Musashimaru Koyo acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kane throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. Kane dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Koyo. That did some damage! A kick lands to the mid section there for Kane. Koyo looks gassed! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Koyo just misses with a punch to the body.

Kane throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Koyo. Koyo throws out a loose jab but Kane uses good head movement to avoid it. Kane is trying hard to land a takedown here. Koyo sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Kane jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
It looks like Musashimaru Koyo has been cut. Kane throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kane connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Koyo momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Koyo lands with a good body shot. Kane scores with a jab to the jaw. Kane avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Kane swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Kane looks for a takedown but Koyo sprawls well. Kane is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. A solid leg kick lands there for Koyo.

Koyo tries to throw a body punch but Kane avoids it by throwing Koyo back against the cage. Kane lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Koyo backwards. Kane landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.

Kane throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Koyo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Kane stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Koyo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Koyo avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Kane with a body punch. A glancing blow. Kane finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Kane has his hands on Koyo's head, controlling the position. Koyo is looking to work some ground and pound but Kane has wrist control. Koyo with a flurry of punches that miss. Kane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Koyo can do to turn this around? Kane thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Koyo regains full guard. Nicely done. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Kane is looking for a sweep. Koyo is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. That was a close second round but I would say that Merrick Kane will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Musashimaru Koyo's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kane thows a body shot but no joy. Koyo throws a leg kick but Kane moved away. Kane connects with a leg kick. Koyo looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Koyo takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Kane fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. That's one minute gone in the round. Koyo lands with a short shot to the head. Koyo takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Kane lands a good knee to the midsection. Koyo won't want to take too many of those. Kane works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Kane drops back looking for a leg! Koyo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Koyo manages to kick Kane off! Kane jumps back into Koyo's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Musashimaru Koyo. Kane with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Koyo crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Kane - the referee stops the clock and Koyo gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Kane. Koyo manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kane closes the distance and pushes Koyo back into the cage. Koyo misses with a punch to the body.

Kane throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Koyo misses with a straight left. Merrick Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kane connects with a right hand. Koyo shakes it off. Kane tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Koyo was well out of range. Poor timing from Kane. Kane lands a two punch combo.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kane scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Kane takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Kane looks for a takedown but Koyo sprawls well. Kane tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Koyo takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Koyo ducked under it nicely. Koyo shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kane defends it nicely. A thudding body kick lands there by Kane!
Koyo is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Koyo shoots in but Kane avoids the takedown attempt easily. Kane lands a high kick!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Kane moves in looking to clinch but Koyo pushes him off. Koyo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kane connects with a body shot that sends Koyo's belly button to the back. Kane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Koyo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Koyo gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Koyo walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Koyo moves out of range as Kane throws a body kick.
Koyo motions for Kane to come forward. Koyo throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Kane shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Koyo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Kane.

Some bone on bone action there as Kane checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Kane changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Koyo looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Koyo is looking to regain half guard here but Kane keeps moving and retains side control. Koyo wants to control but Kane postures up. Koyo is looking to reverse the position. Kane tries to move to mount but Koyo blocks the move with his legs. Koyo is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Koyo can't do much from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kane sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Koyo is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Koyo gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Well, if Kane is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Merrick Kane is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kane is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Koyo is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kane tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Merrick Kane. Well Kane has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win...
