Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mike Wittman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Barristan Selmy! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Saam Ante and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Selmy. No joy for Wittman on that attempt. Wittman shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Selmy napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Selmy looks to move to half guard but instead Wittman has passed into mount! Damn! Selmy is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Wittman tries to control but Selmy wriggling away. Selmy is trying to escape the mount.
Wittman punishing his opponent with strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Wittman prevents Selmy from getting the reversal. Wittman lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Selmy tries to lock up and control but Wittman gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wittman prevents Selmy from getting the reversal. Wittman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Selmy somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Wittman tries for a takedown but Selmy circles away easily and Selmy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wittman won't be happy with that. Selmy wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wittman keeps working. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Selmy tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Selmy decides to stand back up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wittman misses with a takedown attempt - Selmy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Wittman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wittman swings for the body but Selmy moves out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wittman avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Selmy gets a takedown into half guard. Wittman pushes Selmy off and gets back to his feet. Selmy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Wittman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Selmy is fending him off so far but Wittman persists. Nope, Selmy circles away and we're back to standing. Selmy clinches with his opponent.
Wittman tries to score a body lock takedown but Selmy shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wittman has picked Selmy up - he's going for a ride! Wittman dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Wittman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Selmy keeps working. Selmy tries to get to full guard but Wittman has control of the leg. Wittman looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Selmy kicks Wittman off and gets back to his feet. Wittman shoots for a double leg takedown but Selmy sprawls well. He's pushed Wittman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Selmy darts in and clinches Wittman up against the cage. Wittman has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Selmy avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Wittman is breathing heavily. Selmy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Selmy throws a series of punches but Wittman avoids them all with ease.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Selmy waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wittman. Wittman uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Selmy. Wittman drops his hands momentarily and Selmy takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Selmy fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Selmy bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wittman's head backwards. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Selmy throws a nice looking combination but Wittman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Wittman moves into range and clinches up with Selmy. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Barristan Selmy dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Selmy smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Selmy!
Selmy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wittman circles away quickly and effectively. Selmy gets caught flat footed, as Wittman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Wittman wants to control from the top but Selmy keeps moving. Wittman prevents Selmy from getting back to his feet. Selmy is breathing heavily. Wittman with a nice head shot there. Selmy wants to stand but Wittman is controlling the position. Barristan Selmy has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wittman passes Selmy's left leg - he's now in half guard. Wittman wants to pass to mount but Selmy is defending the position. Wittman is figuring out what he wants to do next. Selmy is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Wittman jumps into side control! Selmy is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Wittman slows the pace down. Selmy is trying to get back to his feet. Check out the look on Wittman's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wittman moves into full mount! Wittman lands a heavy elbow. Selmy taking shots to the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wittman tries to control but Selmy wriggling away. Wittman controlling from the full mount. BOOM! Wittman connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Selmy regains half guard. Wittman slips a nice elbow through Selmy's hands, connecting with Selmy's forehead. Selmy wants to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wittman is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Wittman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Wittman working over Selmy with some ground and pound. Selmy looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Wittman controlling the action here. Selmy pushes Wittman off looking to stand but Wittman dives back in and keeps control.
Wittman trying to advance position but Selmy counters by regaining guard. Wittman trying to control the position from guard on top but Selmy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wittman engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Selmy keeping moving, preventing Wittman from controlling successfully.

We're going to have a standup here because Mike Wittman wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Nice takedown defense from Selmy. No joy for Wittman on that attempt. Wittman shoots in but Selmy avoids the takedown attempt easily. Selmy shoots in looking for a takedown. Wittman tries to sprawl out of it but Selmy keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wittman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Selmy gets tackled into the cage by Wittman. Wittman maintains the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mike Wittman dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Selmy throws a jab when Wittman was well out of range. Selmy will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Selmy leaves Wittman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Wittman misses with a takedown and Selmy counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Selmy lands a really nice looking cross but Wittman seems unphased.
Wittman slips a straight right by Selmy. Wittman shoots in and gets a takedown into Selmy's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wittman prevents Selmy from getting back to his feet. Selmy looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Wittman has picked Selmy up and slammed him! Selmy can't keep hold of the triangle and Wittman manages to pass to side control! Selmy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Wittman wants to lay and pray for a moment but Selmy keeps working. Selmy is pushing Wittman's head away, looking to escape. Wittman manages to hold on to the position though. Wittman looks up at the clock and then as Selmy takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Wittman smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Selmy is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Wittman stands up and we're back to a striking position. Wittman shoots in and bounces Selmy off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Selmy is looking to stand up but Wittman isn't so interested in that idea. Wittman advances position into side control! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wittman is staying tight to Selmy's torso, preventing him from escaping. Wittman is working Selmy over with some ground and pound from side control. Wittman advances nicely into full mount. Wittman tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Selmy is desperately trying to improve his position but Wittman has a good base and remains in mount.

Selmy's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Wittman raining down shots from the mount! Wittman is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Selmy can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Wittman is in the full mount, landing strikes. Wittman controlling from the full mount. Wittman looking to finish Selmy with some ground and pound. This is bad for Selmy!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wittman landing strikes from the mount and Selmy is in trouble! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wittman putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Selmy wants to try and get back to his feet. Wittman cracks Selmy with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wittman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Selmy is trying to stand. Wittman is landing with some decent strikes but Selmy is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Wittman controlling the position easily from mount. Selmy in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wittman content just to control the position here. Selmy is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
