Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Morrison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ricky Reyes Jr! The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morrison swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Morrison looks to land a combination. Reyes Jr sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
It looks like Ricky Reyes Jr has been cut. Morrison misses with the combination.
Reyes Jr shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Reyes Jr showed some decent athleticism there. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Reyes Jr content to control rather than advance. Morrison is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Reyes Jr scores with a couple of nice shots.
It looks like John Morrison has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in half guard, Reyes Jr seems content to control.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ricky Reyes Jr was stalling too much, according to the referee. Morrison misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
John Morrison seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Morrison throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Morrison lands a jab-cross combination. Reyes Jr is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Morrison. Morrison is breathing heavily. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Reyes Jr closes the distance and clinches. Morrison has had enough of the clinch but Reyes Jr keeps him there for the moment. Reyes Jr manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Reyes Jr can do anything to dispel that myth. Reyes Jr is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Morrison rolls with it to try and escape but Reyes Jr cranks on the arm and Morrison is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
