Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Peter Poirier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jaimin Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Poirier is looking to clinch.
Thomas shoots in looking for a takedown. Poirier tries to sprawl out of it but Thomas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Poirier manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Poirier swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Thomas.
Thomas shoots for a double leg takedown but Poirier sprawls well. He's pushed Thomas's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Thomas fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Poirier.
Poirier feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Thomass jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Poirier misses with the combination.
Thomas looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Poirier is fending him off so far but Thomas persists. Nope, Poirier circles away and we're back to standing.
Peter Poirier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jaimin Thomas.
Thomas shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Poirier managing to control the position.
Thomas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Thomas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

A jab from Poirier finds it's way through Thomas's defenses.
Poirier moves in looking to clinch but Thomas pushes him off.
Thomas tries to close the distance and clinch up but Poirier swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Thomas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Poirier swivels and escapes.
Thomas looks gassed!
Poirier has Thomas up against the cage in a clinch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Thomas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Poirier smiles and moves away.
Poirier avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Poirier rushes Thomas and presses him up against the cage.
Poirier makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Poirier lands with a light punch inside.
Poirier pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Poirier closes the distance and clinches.
Thomas breaks the clinch.
Poirier drives through and clinches with Thomas against the cage.
Poirier pushes Thomas back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Poirier breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Thomas takes a jab right on the kisser.
Poirier has closed the distance and engaged Thomas in a clinch.
Thomas breaks the clinch.
Poirier connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Thomas! He's out on his feet! Poirier rushes in and drops Thomas with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
