PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Barry Rig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rig has chosen Jag - Full Court as his entrance music. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Muay Thai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Barry Rig!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thai instigates a clinch.
Rig lands a knee to the head.
Rig managing to block the knees to the body from Thai.
Thai trying to land knees to the body.
Rig takes a knee right on the jaw!


It looks like Barry Rig has been cut.
Rig avoiding damage as Thai throws knees to the body.
Thai with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rig tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Thai smiles and moves away.

Thai drives through and clinches with Rig against the cage.
Thai managing to block the knees to the body from Rig.
Thai trying to stall but Rig improves his position.
Thai using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Rig has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Rig fails to pull guard.
Thai tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Thai really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rig is trying to pull guard but Thai turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Muay Thai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Rig.
Rig is trying to stall.
Thai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Rig blocks it with crossed arms.

Rig managing to block the knees to the body from Thai.
Rig on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Rig tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Rig with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Rig misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Thai.

Thai will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Rig up against the cage.

Thai trying to stall but Rig improves his position.
Rig working Thai over with knees to the body.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Thai dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Rig has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Thai uses from the top position.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Rig has a closed guard, preventing Thai from standing up.
Rig trying to keep a closed guard but Thai is proving a slippery customer.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rig is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thai tries to kick Rig off but Rig keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Rig with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Rig prevents Thai from standing back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thai is breathing heavily.

Rig is working for a kimura but Thai is defending it quite comfortably.
Thai won't allow Rig to pass to mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Rig is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Thai defends it well.
Rig works his foot free and advances to mount.
Thai on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Thai tries to get out of the position.
Rig can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Thai is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rig is looking to work his way around to Thai's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.
Thai wants to try and get back to his feet.

Rig is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Thai can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Thai trying desperately to get to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rig is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Thai to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Thai shrugs it off.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thai has given up his back.
Thai holding both Rig 's hands and preventing any damage.

Rig working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Thai is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Rig has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Thai taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Barry Rig!
During a confident post fight interview, Barry Rig thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
