Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Trig (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Diego Sanchez!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Frank Trig!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Trig sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sanchez somewhat.
Sanchez moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
No luck for Trig with that takedown attempt.
Trig shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Trig throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sanchez's waist but Sanchez gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Trig off to one side.
Diego Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Trig.
Trig misses with a kick to the body.
Sanchez tries to clinch up.

Trig gets the takedown into side control.
Sanchez is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Trig has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Sanchez manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Sanchez is controlling Trig's trapped leg to prevent Trig from advancing to side control.
Trig wants to advance to full mount but Sanchez doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Trig must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Trig decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Sanchez, up you get!

Sanchez drives through with a takedown into guard.

Trig escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sanchez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sanchez is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Sanchez won't allow Trig to sweep him here.
Sanchez wants to control from the top but Trig keeps moving.
Trig pulls Sanchez in close to his closed guard and prevents Sanchez from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Diego Sanchez.

Trig shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Sanchez sprawls well. Sanchez wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Trig gets slowly back to his feet.

That was a close round but I would say that Diego Sanchez will probably get the nod.

Sanchez misses with a takedown

and Trig counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Frank Trig has got the better of the ground game so far.
Sanchez controls Trig momentarily but Trig frees himself.
Trig stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanchez swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Sanchez is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sanchez is looking to sweep but instead, Trig has passed into half guard.
Trig seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Sanchez tries to get to full guard but Trig has control of the leg.

Trig not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Trig trying to control the action but Sanchez is working from the bottom.
Sanchez is looking to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sanchez is refusing to be controlled, as Trig sits in half guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Frank Trig hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Trig tries to clinch but Sanchez moves out of range.
Sanchez will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Sanchez tries to land a knee to the head but Trig blocks with his arms.

Trig had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Sanchez defends it easily.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Trig holds on and takes a little breather.

Trig doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Sanchez slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Diego Sanchez just wasn't active enough.

Trig shoots in but Sanchez avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Trig shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Sanchez napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Sanchez leaves Trig with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Trig is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Sanchez gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Sanchez drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Sanchez seems to have locked his on tight now - Trig screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Sanchez, as he picks up the win!
