Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Redmond (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gim Ruut (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Ruut's choice of entrance music: Cyanide - Metallica. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nathan Redmond! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gim Ruut! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redmond throws a combination that misses and Ruut connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Ruut thows a body shot but no joy. Redmond throws a combination that misses so Ruut counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruut looking to pass the guard. Ruut is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Ruut drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Redmond manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ruut has Redmond in his guard. Redmond has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Redmond's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Redmond postures up in Ruut's guard and throws a big left but Ruut blocks it. Redmond slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ruut had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Redmond defends it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Redmond pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Ruut is keeping the position for now. Redmond got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ruut has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Redmond has managed to get both his arms back between Ruut's legs - danger averted. Redmond trying to stand up but can't free himself from Ruut's guard. Redmond content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Ruut looking for a guillotine here but Redmond defends easily.

He's simply no match for Ruut on the ground. Redmond prevents Ruut from improving his position. Ruut is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Redmond pulls his head out easily. Ruut is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Redmond scores with a couple of nice shots. Redmond perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Ruut looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Ruut is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruut is not content to let Redmond control the position. Redmond stands up and beckons Ruut to join him on the feet. Redmond connects with an inside leg kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Redmond throws a series of punches but Ruut avoids them all with ease. Redmond scores with a decent looking hook. Oooooh!!! Redmond has knocked Ruut down with a huge combo! Redmond steps away and waves a wobbly Ruut back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Gim Ruut has been cut. Ruut defending well as Redmond loads up on a big left hand. Ruut is still on wobbly legs! Can Redmond finish him? A momentary lapse in concentration from Redmond enables Ruut to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Redmond manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Redmond bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ruut's guard. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Redmond tries to stand but Ruut is controlling from the bottom. Redmond is in close to Ruut's body, working some short punches and elbows. Redmond working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ruut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Redmond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Redmond gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nathan Redmond dominated that round. The cut man is working on Gim Ruut's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Ruut shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ruut seems to have recovered his senses. Redmond has control of Ruut's left arm, preventing Ruut from doing any damage. Ruut drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Redmond dives on top into guard. Ruut is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Redmond defends well. Ruut has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Redmond can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Redmond gets to his feet - Ruut follows without any prompting. Redmond lands a hook that stumbles Ruut back into the cage. Redmond follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Ruut to the canvas! Redmond pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Ruut has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Nathan Redmond! A relieved looking Nathan Redmond thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
