Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Luther Vega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael DeJesus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael DeJesus!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vega gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Vega fails to land.
DeJesus blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Vega stalling against the cage.
DeJesus tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vega just stands there and leans against the cage.

The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Luther Vega.

Vega throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. DeJesus was covering up waiting for the punch and Vega finishes the takedown easily into guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Vega wants to control from the top but DeJesus keeps moving.

DeJesus has his foot on Vega's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Vega works his way back into a safe position though.

DeJesus jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Vega walks away with a smile on his face. DeJesus gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
DeJesus throws a leg kick but Vega sees it coming and moves out of range.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Vega stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vega wants it to stay on the feet.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Vega throws a low kick but DeJesus moves out of range easily.
DeJesus shoots in for a double leg but Vega sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Vega closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into DeJesus's guard.
Vega has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Michael DeJesus wasn't active enough on the ground.
DeJesus throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
DeJesus shoots for a takedown but Vega saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

DeJesus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
DeJesus is not content to let Vega control the position.

DeJesus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Vega cracks DeJesus with a big right hand but DeJesus just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
