Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Ponting (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ned Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ricky Ponting!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ned Alonso!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Steve Erwin and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alonso avoids the body shot from Ponting.
Alonso throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ponting's waist but Ponting gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Alonso off to one side.
Alonso takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Ponting throws a series of punches but Alonso avoids them all with ease.
A nice combination there by Alonso.
Alonso scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
A telegraphed right hand from Ponting misses the target.
Ponting throws out a loose jab but Alonso uses good head movement to avoid it.
Alonso displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Ponting throws out the jab.
Ponting looks to land a left hand but Alonso moved out of range nicely.

Alonso shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Ponting eats them both and turns towards Alonso to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Alonso tries to close the distance and clinch but Ponting swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Ponting throws out a loose jab but Alonso uses good head movement to avoid it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Ricky Ponting will probably get the nod.
