The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thunstrom throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
McDonald wants to clinch up but Thunstrom keeps it at a distance.

Thunstrom is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from McDonald - that's hurt Thunstrom badly! Oh, another knee lands and Thunstrom is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Thunstrom doesn't seem to be complaining.
