Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
22 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Viljo Laine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Golden Boy!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine cracks Boy with an open hand slap.
Laine misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Laine stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Laine wants it to stay on the feet.
Laine lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Laine lands with an uppercut that bounces Boy off the cage and back into range.
Laine throws a nice outside leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Boy tries for a takedown but Laine sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Laine connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Boy's hands.
Laine lands a body shot.
Laine slaps away a takedown attempt from Boy, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Viljo Laine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Golden Boy.
Laine gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Boy to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Laine wants to get back to his feet but Boy is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Boy trying to control but Laine is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Boy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Laine swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Boy engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Boy is looking to work some ground and pound but Laine has wrist control.
Boy tries to free his leg and advance position but Laine is retaining full guard.
Boy prevents Laine from getting back to his feet.
Boy wants to control from the top but Laine keeps moving.
Laine is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Laine darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
An inside leg kick lands from Laine.
A left lands for Laine.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Boy closes the distance and clinches up with Laine, looking for a takedown. Boy pushes Laine against the cage but Laine circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Laine tests Boy's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Laine lands with a slapping head kick.
It looks like Golden Boy has been cut.
Laine lands a big head kick that sends Boy tumbling to the mat! Laine takes a step backwards and waves Boy back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Boy is rocked!
Laine slaps away a takedown attempt from Boy, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Boy doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Laine counters with a nice uppercut.
Boy is still on wobbly legs! Can Laine finish him?
Laine works Boy's body with a nice hook.
Boy seems to have recovered his senses.
Laine is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Laine throws a head kick but Boy moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boy with a poor takedown
and Laine counters with a good, hard body kick but Boy shrugs it off.
Boy looks gassed!
Laine lands a nice hook to Boy's body. Boy takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Boy is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Laine moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:16 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Viljo Laine!
Viljo Laine decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
